Kherson Oblast Children’s Hospital was created in 1964. Since 1978 it has become the only treatment and prevention center offering all kinds of assistance to children of the oblast. The hospital carries out planned, consultative, emergency assistance and hospitalization of children with most complicated pathologies. In 1992, a neonatal center for 120 beds was created, rendering specialized assistance of all kinds, and also a medical and social rehabilitation center for junior children with lesions of the central nervous system. In 2004 the hospital was awarded the Golden Fortuna diploma.

Its total bed capacity is 540. The clinic can receive 150 patients per one shift. 95,000 children from Kherson and rural regions receive consultations at the center every year, with another 15,000 receiving emergency and planned assistance at the hospital. Around 140 doctors and 470 paramedics work at the hospital.

The hospital took part in the following programs: The Program to Prevent Birth Defects, Aid Program by the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Alabama (the US), FAS Syndrome Prevention Program supported by the University of California (San-Diego, the US), OMNI-net program supported by the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Alabama (the US).

The hospital consists of 17 specialized units. It has seven surgical units: surgery, contaminated surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, neurosurgery, and orthopedic. The Isolation Ward 5 receives patients with acute virus obstructive laryngitis and laryngotracheitis. The hospital also has a diagnosing unit.
