Children’s Surgeons from Ukraine Go to European Surgical Institute in Hamburg for Traineeship

October 14, 2006, a group of children’s surgeons from Ukraine went for a traineeship to the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg. The action is held within the framework of cooperation between the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and Johnson & Johnson Company.

Candidates for the Hamburg traineeship were selected basing on the applications from hospitals – members of the Hospital to Hospital program. The winners were Taras Martyniuk (Volyn Oblast Children’s Territorial Association), Dmytro Shevchuk (Zhytomyr Oblast Children’s Hospital), and Denis Ovechkin (Sumy Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital). In addition to their prominent professional skills, the doctors are fluent in English, the language of instruction at the training.

The traineeship will take place on November 15-17, 2006. The training cost for one specialist amounts to € 1,750.

This year Johnson & Johnson and Ukraine 3000 Fund conducted a joint action, donating One Touch Ultra glukometers to children’s hospitals participating in the Hospital to Hospital Program to the total amount of UAH 175,000 ($35,000).
