Thursday, 17 April 2008 14:29

April 11, 2008, the remodeled Surgery 1 was unveiled at the Republic Children’s Clinical Hospital at the Health Ministry of the Crimea. Among the participants of the event were Head of the Supreme Council of the ARC, Head of the hospital’s Board of Trustees Anatoly Hritsenko, Head of the Supreme Council of the ARC Standing Committee on Social Issues, Health Care and Veterans Svitlana Savchenko, Minister for Health Care of the Crimea Serhiy Donych, and Chief Physician of the Republic Children’s Clinical Hospital at the Health Ministry of the Crimea Oleksandr Astakhov.

The Republic Children’s Clinical Hospital is the only patient care facility in the Crimea, able to perform complicated surgeries (including on newborns) of the chest and abdominal cavities, neurosurgical, urological, orthopedic, ophthalmologic, and ENT surgeries on over 4,000 children every year.

Due to the great number of surgeries, in 2006 Surgery 1 reconstruction began, ending in March 2008. It was financed with UAH 680,000 from the ARC budget, state budget subventions, and non-budget funds. Surgical tables, shadowless lamps, cardio monitors, and electric pumps were purchased to equip the surgery to the total of UAH 510,000.

Putting Surgery 1 into operation will allow increasing the number of surgical interventions and creating comfortable conditions for both the patients and the surgeons.
