Medical Equipment and Medicines to Be Purchased with the Funds Raised During the Doing Good Week

October 24-31, 2008, with the immediate participation of Mykolayiv Oblast Children’s Hospital’s Board of Trustees, the Charity Season 2008: the Week of Doing Good partner project was implemented in Mykolayiv.

The city’s charitable organizations and volunteers took an active part in the action, raising over UAH 10,000. This money is earmarked for medical equipment and medicines for children with oncologic diseases.

Within the action’s framework, volunteers from Sweden, experts in Waldorf technology, which uses art therapy as one of its means, visited Mykolayiv Oblast Children’s Hospital. The guests gave classes for the sick children and staff members at the hospital’s Neurology Unit.

The landscape therapy project, We Need the Hospital of the Future Today, initiated by the Dialog Mykolayiv Oblast Public Organization, also continues. Due to the small grants competition, organized by the Mykolayiv Development Foundation and the National Endowment for Democracy foundation (NED), Washington, DC, over UAH 10,000 was raised. The project’s organizers and members of Mykolayiv Oblast Children’s Hospital’s Board of Trustees are conducting a contest of projects for the hospital grounds improvement and polls among children and their parents about their view on how the hospital’s grounds should be changed.
