December 12, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko together with wives of the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine visited Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center at OKHMATDIT National Specialized Children’s Hospital.
Among other participants of the event, organized by Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, were Deputy Minister for Health Care Vasyl Lazoryshynets, wife of the Foreign Minister Olha Ohryzko, top management of the OKHMATDIT National Specialized Children’s Hospital, and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members.
The guests visited the Children’s Onco-Hematology Center’s laboratory, Marrow Transplantation Department, and Onco-Hematology Department. They also visited some of the wards, talking to the little patients and their parents.
Addressing the participants of the action, the Center staff members, children, and their parents, Mrs. Yushchenko said that for her this institution was special, since she had started her work at Ukraine 3000 Foundation exactly with assisting OKHMATDIT. She noted that the Foundation kept supporting the hospital, giving much effort to render it support.
Mrs. Kateryna thanked the wives of the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine for their noble initiative. “It’s very pleasing that the wives of foreign ambassadors created a club for charitable activities,” she said. “It’s good to see that they are interested in helping the country their husbands are working in.”
On behalf of the wives of the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine, Ukraine 3000 Foundation, and herself, Mrs. Kateryna gave presents to all 50 little patients of the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center: games, toys, and drawing kits. The guests also presented toys and books for the Center’s playroom.
Also, the Center received a present from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: three infusomats to the total of around UAH 35,000.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko thanked the medical staff for their hard daily labor. She greeted all present on the occasion of the coming holidays and bid the children speedy recovery.
