The bids were opened, sent for the open bids competition for purchasing medical equipment for 29 children’s hospitals in Ukraine. The competition is conducted by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and MacDonald’s Ukraine.
The event took place February 9, 2009, at the MacDonald’s restaurant in Poshtova Ploshcha, Kyiv. Among the members of the Contest Committee were Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s financial director Rostyslav Zamlynsky (Head), head of the MacDonald’s Ukraine state and public relations dept. Mykhaylo Shuranov, director of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s medical programs dept. Vira Pavliuk, expert with the development dept. Oleksiy Kamyanchuk, expert with medical programs dept. Taras Tkachuk, and deputy head of the medical programs dept. Inna Holovanchuk (secretary). Also present were representatives of the applicant companies, mass media, MacDonald’s Ukraine, and Ukraine 3000 Foundation.
Recall that the equipment will be purchased as part of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation - McDonald’s Ukraine cooperation. This year, over 350,000 visitors and staff members of the 63 McDonald’s restaurants in 19 Ukrainian cities took part in the World Children’s Day at McDonald’s in November.
As a result, UAH 1,607,000 was raised. According to Mr. Zamlynsky, this is the record for the whole period of cooperation between Ukraine 3000 Foundation and McDonald’s Ukraine on the Hospital to Hospital program. In total, since 2005, Ukraine’s children’s hospitals have received over 3.5 million hryvnias in aid due to this cooperation.
The raised funds were earmarked for purchasing reanimation equipment for newborns for 29 children’s hospitals in Ukraine. The equipment set includes: patient monitoring system, medium class infant incubator, electric pump, pulsoximeter, syringe pump, digital and mechanical scales, photo therapy lamp, and emergency aid kit.
The total of 10 bids was sent to the competition. As a result of the opening procedure, 9 participants, whose proposals met the competition requirements, were admitted. One bid was turned down because of the lack of required documents.
The Contest Committee resolved to create an Expert Committee to process the bids, involving independent experts. The Expert Committee will consider the bids by February 20, 2009.
The Contest Committee’s next meeting is scheduled for February 20, when the competition results will be announced.
The Ukraine 3000 Foundation and McDonald’s Ukraine thank all the companies applying for the competition, and the thousands of McDonald’s customers, whose contribution has made the equipment purchase possible.
