Rivne Oblast Children’s Hospital agreed to cooperate with Italian NGO, Laboratorio Staliano perla Cooperarione allo Sviluppo – L.I.Co.S, working on international cooperation with Ukraine within the framework of the MELO Project, designed for rendering medical aid to orphaned children and children from dysfunctional families, namely:
- medical and surgical treatment in Italy and Ukraine for orphaned children and children from dysfunctional families;
- training exchanges of Italian and Ukrainian hospitals medical staff in connection with the Ukrainian children treatment on MELO Project;
- sanitation, rehabilitation, psychological and social supervision for orphaned children.
Additionally, at present, Rivne Oblast Children’s Hospital doctors are preparing to go for a training course in Dallas, Texas, in the fall of 2009, as part of the medical exchange program with the support of John Wood Community College Foundation. The first similar trip took part in spring 2006. This medical program gives the doctors a chance to enhance their professional skills, familiarize themselves with new technologies and treatment methods, and consequently introduce their knowledge into practice, increasing the level of medical aid for Ukrainian children.
