May 19, 2009, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, being on a working trip to Zhytomyr oblast, visited Zhytomyr Oblast Children’s Hospital. Among other participants of the event were Head of the ZhytomyrOSA Yuri Zabela, Head of the Oblast Council Vitaly Frantsuz, Director General of MacDonald’s Ukraine Jan Borden, President of the Friends of the Children Charitable Foundation Maryna Krysa, and representatives of local authorities, the hospital’s Board of Trustees, and Ukraine 3000 Foundation.
Kateryna Yushchenko toured the hospital premises, talked to little patients and their parents. She visited the newborns ICUm recently opened due to the hospital’s Board of Trustees.
The guests also met with medical staff and Head Physician Viktor Marchenko and the Board of Trustees members.
Addressing the audience, Mrs. Yushchenko described the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s medical programs: Hospital to Hospital, Children’s Hospital of the Future, and Joy of the Childhood – Free Movements. She mentioned the Zhytomyr Oblast Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees’ active work and thanked them for caring about children’s health and will to help.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and MacDonald’s Ukraine Company, Mrs. Yushchenko and Mr. Borden gave Dr. Marchenko a certificate for a newborn’s incubator.
This was a part of a series of events to provide equipment to Ukraine’s children’s hospitals as part of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and MacDonald’s Ukraine’s joint action, World Children’s Day in MacDonald’s. The fifth action took place in 2008, raising a record-beating sum of UAH 1,607,000. The money was earmarked to purchase neonatology equipment for Ukraine’s children’s patient care institutions, in part, the Zhytomyr Oblast Children’s Hospital.
The cost of the incubator is over UAH 62,000.
In his speech Director General of MacDonald’s Ukraine Jan Borden emphasized the importance of supporting the community within which a socially responsible company works. He also thanked the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation for the long-standing fruitful cooperation.
The hospital also received a gift from the Foundation: 15 powerful digital hearing aids to distribute among children with impaired hearing. The total costs of this equipment is UAH 63,000.
Among other speakers were REALTO Company President Viktor Moskovchenko, Cardio Company Director Yuri Pohoretsky, and Head of the Zhytomyr Oblast Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees Tamara Oliynyk.
