Up to 15 Children from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with serious Diseases to Undergo Treatment in Italy Every Year

Up to 15 children from Dnipropetrovsk oblast with most grave diseases will receive treatment in Italy. This was agreed during an official visit of Dnipropetrovsl oblast’s delegation to Lombardy, Italy.

This news was announced at a briefing by Head of the Internal Relations and Foreign Economic Activities Administration at Dnipropetrovsk OSA Valentyna Natsevych. “A protocol was signed on cooperation and partnership between the Civil Hospitals of Brescia and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Children’s Hospital. We have got a real chance to provide quality treatment fro children who were unable to receive it in Ukraine,” she said.

In Ms. Natsevych’s words, in accordance with the program for international development and cooperation in the sphere of medicine of the Lombardy Region (Italy), in 2009 the cooperation was started between the Civil Hospitals of Brescia and OKHMATDYT National Specialized Children’s Hospital (Kyiv) with the support of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation headed by Kateryna Yushchenko, which will serve as a center of a network of oblast children’s hospitals in Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, and Mukacheve.

In his turn, Director of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Children’s Hospital Oleksand Khytryk said that, in addition to the children’s treatment agreement, another important for Dnipropetrovsk oblast agreement was reached on bilateral exchange of experience between Italian and Dnipropetrovsk oblast doctors. “We agreed upon trainings for our oncologists in Italy and Italian children’s surgeons in our oblast. This is an important event for our doctors who have received their first opportunity to undergo trainings at the European Onco-Hematology Center,” he said.
