McDonald’s Company is the leading global foodservice retailer. McDonald’s is one of the biggest foreign investors in Ukraine, investing over USD 83,000,000 into developing its network and our country’s infrastructure.
Beginning from 2002, the company is holding the World Ñhildren’s Day at McDonald’s charitable action in over 100 countries. The action is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child (November 20, 1989). Its goal is raising funds for implementing charitable projects related to children’s health protection and improving their living conditions throughout the world. In the 5 years the company raised over USD 124,000,000 to support children in many countries. In Ukraine, within the framework of the World Ñhildren’s Day at McDonald’s in 2002-2007, the company has donated over UAH 2,500,000 to support 40 children’s institutions in 28 Ukraine’s cities.
The cooperation with McDonald’s Ukraine on the World Ñhildren’s Day at McDonald’s action started in 2005.
Due to the money raised in course of the World Ñhildren’s Day at McDonald’s November 20, 2005, family rooms were remodeled at the Children’s Oncology unit at the Oncology Institute of the AMS of Ukraine.
In 2006, the Healthy Heart of a Child charitable action was conducted, bringing UAH 500,000 in donations. With this money, cardio equipment for 18 children’s hospitals in Ukraine was purchased.
By the results of the charitable action of November 5-25, 2007, in January 2008 thirty children’s patient care institutions in Ukraine (24 being members of the Hospital to Hospital program and another 6 recommended by McDonald’s Ukraine) received emergency aid kits and children’s electric pumps. The reanimation kit includes all instruments necessary for rendering emergency aid, with the total cost of one kit being around UAH 30,000. The total cost of the donated equipment was UAH 900,000.
UAH 1,607,000 was raised in the World Ñhildren’s Day at McDonald’s November 1-30, 2008. The funds are earmarked for purchasing reanimation equipment for newborns for Ukraine’s children’s hospitals.
